SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) is a neuromuscular disorder that kills more babies than any other inherited disease. Michael Gray Dougherty was diagnosed with Type II SMA in August, 1999. While Gray's diagnosis has been devastating for Mike and Abbie and their families, they have committed themselves to defeating this dreadful disease. Not only are they fighting for Gray's life in their search for treatment for him, but they have begun the battle in the medical arena and are forging relationships with organizations established specifically to accelerate the cure for SMA.

Gray's Gang is a 100% volunteer organization established in 1999 committed to defeating the deadly disease of Spinal Muscular Atrophy.  Our mission is to raise awareness about SMA, to provide support for Mike and Abbie and other families affected by this disease, and to raise money to facilitate a cure.
