Gray had a busy, healthy summer. We made a few trips to the beach. He was able to float in the ocean surf on his own with a special float that kept his head above the water. It was a wonderful, independent feeling for him with his dad close by to play with him.
The FSMA conference was held in Chicago this summer. This location enabled us to attend the conference as well as spend time with family, Gray’s Aunt Suzy and Uncle Brian. Once again, Gray enjoyed his time playing with other children at the conference. We gathered useful and updated information regarding SMA and the search for a cure.
Gray went to his first summer camp at Providence Day School in Charlotte. It was a Super Heroes Camp and he loved it! Gray also attended art classes again at Noah’s Art with his neighbor and good buddy, Abigail.
My good friend, Michelle Reibel, and I had a stationary party to benefit Gray’s Gang. Michelle donates 50% of all her profits from JJ Creations to Grays Gang. We had a great turnout and appreciate the support once again!
Gray entered kindergarten at Selwyn Elementary August. His teacher is Ms. Kellam, his assistant teacher is Ms. Thompson, and Ms. Hager is Gray’s aid. Ms. Kellam says Gray keeps the class laughing. He has already made some good friends and we are very pleased with his school experience thus far. Special thanks to his Aunt Katie who came down from Pennsylvania to advocate for Gray’s needs.
Wheelchair soccer just kicked off a new season! Gray plays every Wednesday for the ASAP (Adaptive Sports & Adventure Program). If you find yourself in Charlotte on Wednesday afternoon, stop by! Gray would love some fans to help cheer him on. The team plays at the Hawthorne Rec Center in Elizabeth. Can we say “Gameboy”?
Gray is often found hovering over the little electronic device raking up points and breaking his own records! His personal favorites are Mario and Donkeykong. Yu-gi-oh cards are also the latest and greatest with Gray and his classmates at Selwyn.
