2010 Walk & Roll
We held our 2nd Annual Cure SMA Walk-n-Roll for Gray's Gang on a sunny Saturday, April 24 in Charlotte, North Carolina. We were thrilled with the turnout and enthusiasm to help find a cure for SMA. Because of the outpouring of support from our community, family and friends, we raised over $35,000! The money raised goes directly to the fight for a treatment and a cure for SMA.
Upon completion of the walk-n-roll, which began at Gray's new middle school, Alexander Graham, the "gang" was entertained by a rocking DJ, Huggie the Clown, our local Chick-fil-A cow, and a cool magician. We had amazing raffle items for both kids and adults, as well as hair and face painting. The many volunteers and Gray's Gang participants made this year's event a huge success and one Gray will always remember!
2009 Walk & Roll
The first Annual Gray’s Gang Walk-N-Roll was a HUGE success!!! Thank you to all took part. With over 450 walkers and many more supporters, over $32,000 was raised to help find a cure for SMA.
Gray’s endless smile spoke volumes! Huggee the clown greeted everyone as they arrived, our wonderful DJ, Captain Sam, kept things rolling, and Adrian the Magician was a huge hit! Many kids sported colorful spray painted hair and tattoos thanks to some of our great high school volunteers. Gray’s only complaint was the walk wasn’t long enough…a blessing with the heat!
The snowcones helped cool everyone down, along with the sports drinks from Allsports, donated by Peter Doyle, and the water from BJ’s. The bushels of popcorn and fabulous homemade desserts from Sharon Woods cooks, kept everyone energized.
Congratulations to the raffle winners. All the items on the adult and kids table were extremely popular!
A special thanks to the executive committee who worked for months to make this a reality!!! Especially, Lauren Tinkey, for all the awesome signs she made so everyone knew where to go!
